About the Nests

In DuckTrail, there are two ways to explore and spread kindness —
Physical Nests and Virtual Nests.

Physical nests exist in real-world locations you can visit and interact with in person.
Virtual nests also have real map locations, but the experience happens digitally inside the app.

Both types encourage players to get outside, explore safely, and discover new places.

Physical Nests

Physical nests are real containers placed in safe public areas such as parks, beaches, walking trails, town greens, and community gathering spaces.

They may look like small lunchboxes, treasure chests, or creative containers filled with rubber ducks.

When you find a physical nest you can:

• Take a duck
• Leave a duck
• Check in using the app
• Upload photos
• Earn badges and kindness rewards

Physical nests are designed to encourage movement, creativity, sharing, and real-world connection.

Virtual Nests

Virtual nests are real map locations with a digital experience.
You must be physically near a virtual nest to interact with it in the app.

When you visit a virtual nest you can:

• Check in once per day
• Discover new destinations and landmarks
• Earn points and progress rewards
• Have a chance to collect a virtual duck through a random draw

Virtual nests make exploration fun even when no physical container is present, while still encouraging players to walk, travel, and discover new places.

Virtual nests are real map locations with a digital experience.
You must be physically near a virtual nest to interact with it in the app.

Want to host a duck nest? Add it to the map! You will drop a pin within 100ft of your location and submit the required details for review.

All nests are reviewed by our admin team before appearing on the map. For everyone's safety, nests places near restricted areas will be automatically rejected.

Virtual Ducks

Virtual ducks are digital collectibles you can earn when checking into virtual nests.

Each time you check in, you have a random chance to receive a virtual duck.
You can only check into each virtual nest once per day, so every visit feels special.

Virtual ducks may represent:

• Famous landmarks
• Countries and cities
• Events and holidays
• Community challenges

Collecting them helps you build your personal DuckTrail journey and celebrate your adventures.

Virtual ducks are digital collectibles you can earn when checking into virtual nests.

Tap a nest to check in, favorite it, ask for more ducks, upload photos or report issues with it.
Take a duck from the nest and leave another one for a fellow hunter.

When visiting a virtual nest you have a chance of acquiring a virtual duck and add to your collection.

If a location falls within a restricted area, your nest may be declined.
This helps keep DuckTrail fun and safe for the whole community.
