How DuckTrail Hatched

DuckTrail started with something small, simple, and joyful: rubber ducks.

What began as a fun family obsession quickly turned into something more meaningful. On family trips and cruises, we discovered the magic of cruising ducks — the simple thrill of finding a hidden duck, the smile it brings, and the invisible connection to a stranger who left it behind just to make someone else happy.

Then came Kindness Rocks — painting rocks with uplifting messages and leaving them in our community. Again, the same feeling: joy, surprise, and a quiet reminder that someone out there cared enough to leave something kind behind.

Doing these activities with our kids became some of our favorite moments. Watching them light up, learn generosity, and feel connected to people they’d never meet reminded us of something important:

Small acts of kindness matter.

Somewhere along the way — especially after COVID — many of us went back to being strangers to our neighbors.
We walk past each other. We scroll more. We interact less.

DuckTrail was created as a way to gently bring human connection back into our everyday spaces — not through competition, not through pressure, but through play, kindness, and curiosity.

DuckTrail blends the joy of physical discovery with a simple digital guide:

  • Real places

  • Real people

  • Real moments of kindness

You don’t need to know who left a duck.
You don’t need to post or perform.
You just get to participate.

Our Hope

Our hope is that DuckTrail helps people:

  • Slow down

  • Look around

  • Smile at a stranger

  • Feel a little less alone

Because in a world that’s gotten louder, faster, and more disconnected, kindness is still one thing we can all share.

One duck at a time.
